おっきなお芋が掘れたよ We dug big sweet potatoes!

英語幼児園・YMCA Global Kindergarten・YGKお芋掘り遠足報告
　全日制英語幼児園・YMCA Global Kindergarten (YGK)の園児たちが、１０月１６日（木）に、戸塚区舞岡までお芋掘りに行ってきました。
　畑についたら、まず長靴に履き替えて、軍手を手にはめて、準備完了！農家の方からお芋の掘り方を教えてもらい、畑に上がって掘り始めました。地面の表面に顔を出している赤紫色のつるを引っ張ると、土の中から大きなお芋がゴロゴロといくつも出てきました。土はとてもさらさらふかふかでどんどん掘っていきました。最後には、大きな袋３つがいっぱいになるほどのお芋が収穫出来ました。どの子も掘り出したお芋を大事そうに持ってニッコリ、とても満足そうな笑顔を見せてくれました。

掘ったお芋はみんなで分けてお家に持って帰りました。どんなお料理にして食べたのかな？自分で掘ったお芋は特別だったかな？

さて、もうすぐみんなが大好きなハロウィーン。どんな仮装を用意しているのかな？元気いっぱいに楽しく過ごしましょう。

  On the 16th of October, we, at YMCA Global Kindergarten, an English kindergarten run by Yokohama YMCA, went sweet potato digging in Maioka, Totsuka-ward.
  The students put on boots and gloves and they were ready.  The farmer showed them how to dig out the sweet potatoes and they all tried.  They pulled the purple vine sticking out from the surface of the ground. The big sweet potatoes appeared one after another.  The soil was so soft and fluffy that digging brought us true pleasure.  We dug up enough sweet potatoes to fill up three big bags!  Everyone showed their pleased face holding potatoes happily.
